In summer of 2009, I launched the Spiral Stone of Cape Cod jewelry line. Spiral Stone jewelry exhibit’s natural earthen beauty in a functional, wearable state. The spiral symbol is repeated throughout much of the jewelry design as it is an important symbol in its concept.
Throughout cultures past and present, the spiral has been a spiritual symbol of growth and evolution. The spiral winds around a fixed point continuously increasing or decreasing in distance from that point. This winding energy of the spiral represents the inner and outer journey of the Self. A point of birth and creation, transformation and rebirth. The Spiral Stone necklace is a direct definition of this concept. Each stone is bound in steel wire rather than silver or gold. The steel holds in it the essence of time, growth, and change. As the Spiral Stone necklace is worn, it will naturally change in color and show its age in an orange hue of rust. This jewelry line began with the creation of the Spiral Stone necklace, but now includes a variety of jewelry created from found, natural materials. What makes the Spiral Stone jewelry line unique is that each piece created is completely unique in form. Each piece is inspired by its origin. A collected grapevine coil inspires the copper wire wrap to be, just as the unique shape and coloration of a beach stone guides the wire which binds it. Some pieces inspire a story of origin while others simply tell it on their own.
