Tessa D'Agostino_Origins of Existence_Pre-Installation Detail#1_ 2014

“As you approach entry you’ll find yourself attracted to a warm earthen glow emanating from within the space. In some primitive form of knowing, you find yourself feeling peacefully at home as you approach. As you enter the space you hear the forest whisper soft unspoken words and in a deep feeling of peace you find yourself seated in contemplation. As you look up again at your surroundings you see across the room yourself looking back at you, but something is different. Your eyes awaken something in your heart and a deep sense of infinite grounding comes over you. Suddenly you are in the presence of your origin. An energy of no place or time. A deep gratitude for all that is. The you in us. The us in you.”-T.D’Agostino

I look forward to sharing this experience with you

All About Seven Invitation front resized   ALL ABOUT sEVEn: A Multi-media Exhibit by 49 Cape Women Artists Curated by Shawn Nelson Dahlstrom

At the Cape Cod Museum of Art 60 Hope Lane, off Route 6A Dennis, MA 02638

February 14 – March 30th

  *Opening Reception: March 1, 2014

For this show I was randomly assigned to be a part of the group themed ” Seven Sisters, Pleiades Constellation”.  Below is a piece of my writing and a slide show of my sculpture “Freeing The Light” that I created inspired by this theme.

“For many ancient, indigenous cultures Pleiades was a source of timekeeping and also helped predict a season’s harvest. From the perspective of an ancient tribesperson, I could only imagine ceremoniously looking up for guidance, to find one these stars missing. This sculpture embodies the deep spiritual energy of paying homage to this fallen star.” -Tessa D’Agostino

This exhibition showcases the work of 49 women from across the Cape, working in a variety of media: painting, printmaking, glass, fiber, mixed media, sculpture, encaustic, and conceptual. The women range in age from 22-82 and include both emerging and well-established artists.

Seven groups of seven have spent a full year working on their selected themes on which they based their work. The seven themes are: Seven Sisters, Pleiades Constellation; Seven Deadly Sins or Not; Seven Elements; Seventh Generation from Native American lore; Seven Intentions; Seven Colors of the Visible Spectrum; Formal 7.

Opening Reception: Friday April 4th   5-8pm

What is Mutual Muses?

Mutual Muses is an annual spring exhibit held in all four Cultural Center galleries. Half of the participants are writers (both prose and poetry this year) and half are visual artists (painters, sculptors, fabric and glass artists, etc.). Writers are randomly assigned an image from which they will draw inspiration, and visual artists are randomly assigned a poem or paragraph that will inspire them.

Above is a piece of my work currently being used as inspiration for a poem soon to be…
